You may already know that Bokeh is a Japanese word that is used to define the quality of the out of focus area of an image. The fact that Bokeh being quantitative but highly qualitative makes the explanation of the term much harder to understand.
Sometimes it is enough for an average photographer to know this definition, the rest for him is to choose the lens which is supposed to give the images with most appealing bokeh. It is good to see giant publishers like New York Times to give more space for new and innovative digital cameras such as Casio EX-F1 Review. No need to meniton that the new Casio is one of the most remarkable digicam of this year with its outstanding features like 60 fps shooting and a buffer system which starts taking photos before you even press the shutter in order to not miss the moment. As you may remember, Photolectic was one of the very first websites which posted about Casio EX-F1 here.
You can also find a detailed review and a video of the the casio EX-F1 on NY Times article. This digital camera surely will become very popular very soon.

There has been development kits on the net to hack Canon cameras for a long time. Some of you may remember how the EOS 300D - Digital Rebel was easily cracked to gain some of the features which were only available for the semi-professional Canon EOS DSLR bodies at that time. These kits are also available for some Canon compact cameras.
Wired.com recently published a guide for using Open-Source CHDK (Canon Hacker’s Development Kit), a supplementary firmware version which gives your compact Canon features like a RAW mode, live histogram and longer exposure times.

There is always a risk associated with buying second hand goods, and it is true for the second-hand SLR/DSLR lenses. Many amateur photographers goes for second hand items due to the high prices of the new lenses. It is very important for these DSLR users who are on the market for a used lens to know how to inspect a lens and decide if it is functioning as it has to be.
