Sony has announced two new DSLRs: Alpha A300 and A350. The new cameras stand somewhere between the enty level A200 and semi-pro A700, and differs from these two with their Live View feature which has shortly become a new standart in DSLR world.

Sony A300 and A350 Comparison:
A300 and A350 both features CCD type image sensors, while the former has a resolution of 10.2 MP identical to A200 and A100, and the latter sports a 14.2 MP which is the highest resolution CCD type sensor of any DSLR. The choice of a 14.2 MP CCD image sensor may be questionable since CMOS has been accepted by majority as the better alternative in terms of high ISO noise control. Tests will show how the new Sony handles the high noise.
Other then the image sensor resolution, the only difference between A300 and A350 seems to be the slower continuous speed of A350 (thanks to the larger file sizes). The A300 has a continuous shooting rate of 3.0 fps where as the A350 shoots somewhere between 2.0 and 2.5 fps.

The New Quick AF Live View System
A300 and A350 offers a new Quick Live View system technology, which differs from the implementation of other manufacturers as Sony's system claim to hold on its normal focusing speed during live view. This is achieved by activation of a second lower resolution CCD during Live view. New designed Pentamirror Tilt mechanism directs light to this low-res live view image sensor, enabling fast and responsive TTL phase-detection auto-focusing.
Price and Availability
The A300 kit with a DT 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 standard zoom lens will ship in April for about $800 and A350 camera body will be available in March for about $800, and the DSLR-A350 kit with a DT 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 3.9x zoom lens will be available for about $900 at the same time.
