Introduced in August of 2005, Canon EOS 5D has been the "budget" full frame DSLR with its astounding image quality and high ISO performance, even outperforming the 16.7 MP flagship of Canon: EOS 1Ds MarkII in means of image quality according to some photographers.
Now EOS 5D is already 2 years old and the competition is getting stronger, especially with the new full frame introduced by Nikon: D3. So as many agree, 5D is due to upgrade very soon. The new name is likely to be EOS 5D Mark II, altough it is not out of possibility that Canon may name the new as a new series like 3D or 7D.
The photo below is claimed to be the new Canon EOS 5D Mark ii, although we can not confirm if this is real or not since we came across several 'photoshopped' images before:

The expected model is supposed to be the cheapest full frame DSLR in the market, one possible competition would come from an unexpected rival: Sony A900. Despite no official announcement from Sony yet, the A900 will most probably be a full frame DSLR and share the same sensor with the Nikon D3.
We estimate the price range for the new 5D MarkII (or whatever the name becomes) to be $2.500-3.000 and has a 3.0" LCD with Liveview and a full frame CMOS sensor with resolution range between 16-18 MP, just a rough guess.
