NEW!! Canon EOS Rebel XS / 1000D OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED!!
The Canon EOS Rebel XS / 1000D, which is assumed to be an update for EOS Digital Rebel Xti / 400D, was first revealed in a help file of Canon Digital Photo Professional software which is bundled with all Canon DSLR cameras. Even though it is removed from the latest versions of the software, many people still believe it will replace Xti / 400D after Photokina 2008.
No specs have been leaked yet, but speculations are already spreaded all over the photography forums. Addition of live view is one of the improvements that almost everybody agree on. Canon may be aiming directly at the cameras like Olympus E-420 and Sony A300 & A350 which all have Live View and cheaper from the 450D / Xsi at the same time. The model number '1000D' is a bit strange actually, but lets just wait and see.
Canon Rebel XS / 1000D Specifications (Pure speculation):
-
Sensor: 10.1 MP CMOS
-
Image Processor: Digic III
-
AF System: 7-point AF
-
Continuous Shooting Speed: 3 FPS
-
LCD: 2.5″ 230K
-
Live View with contrast detect AF
-
Xsi / 450D style menu
The new XS / 1000D is expected to be $100 cheaper then XSi / 450D.
